Learning Pathway Flow Description
Enrollment Stage
Incoming students take the Freshman English Placement Test. Based on results, students are placed into one of three tracks:
- Grade Classification: Students are assigned to English (I)(II) courses according to their placement score.
- Qualification Exemption (1): Students meeting the required criteria may be exempted and proceed directly to the On-Campus English Proficiency Test.
- Qualification Exemption (2): Students meeting higher criteria may be exempted and proceed directly to advanced courses or subsequent stages.
Year 1
- Students complete English (I)(II) courses and then take the On-Campus English Proficiency Test.
- Pass: Proceed to Advanced English B (I)(II).
- Not passed: Proceed to Advanced English A (I)(II).
Year 2
- After completing Advanced English A or B, students take the On-Campus English Proficiency Test again.
- Pass: Proceed to Year 3 Professional English courses (three tracks available).
- Not passed: Remedial instruction or retesting required.
Year 3
Based on previous results, students follow one of three tracks through Professional English courses and then take the TESP assessment:
- Track 1 (upper): Professional English → TESP → Remedial instruction/retesting if not passed.
- Track 2 (middle): Professional English → TESP → Certificate awarded upon passing.
- Track 3 (lower): Professional English → TESP → Certificate awarded upon passing.
Year 4
- Students who did not pass TESP: Complete remedial instruction/retesting, then graduate.
- Students who passed TESP and met all criteria: Receive a Certificate of Excellence in On-Campus Multilingual English Assessment, then graduate.
